Cruise Employee Earns Advance CLIA Certification

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 25, 2009

Dana Gain, Carnival Cruise Lines’ business development director for Western Ontario, recently became the first employee in the cruise industry to earn a Cruise Counsellor Scholar (ECCS) designation from the Cruise Lines International Association, the marketing and travel agent training arm for the North American cruise industry.

The ECCS designation is CLIA’s highest travel agent training accreditation, achieved by a select group of travel agents in the U.S. and Canada. To be eligible for ECCS accreditation, applicants must first earn their Accredited, Master and Elite Cruise Counsellor designations then successfully complete the comprehensive 24-course ECCS program.

Gain said that she decided to pursue her ECCS certification to gain an even deeper understanding of travel agents’ valuable role in the cruise-selling process.
