Berg’s Azimuth Thruster Breakthrough

Berg Propulsion signed a contract with Dubai Shipbuilding and Engineering to deliver its first two production units of Berg Propulsion Azimuth Thrusters (BAT) in early 2010. The BAT is wholly designed within Berg Propulsion Technology, the R&D company within the Berg Propulsion Group.  Prior to the delivery of the first two production units, Berg Propulsion will deliver a full scale prototype that will be installed into a Survey Vessel in Sweden in June 2009 enabling Berg Propulsion Technology to evaluate the design, manufacturing and installation process. The first two production units are designated as the BAT 626.  It is with controllable pitch propellers and will be diesel engine driven.  Each unit is designed  for 1839 kw (2500 hp).  It will be installed into a 63.5M Offshore Supply Vessel, LRS class with DP2, Fire Fighting Vessel Class I.
