September 2, 2009

Becker Marine Systems will present its product portfolio at the Kormarine 2009 from October 21 to 24. This is the leading Korean exhibition for the global shipbuilding market. At the Becker booth visitors will experience a presentation of the company’s wide product range comprising of the Twisted Rudders TLKSR and TLFKSR, the Schilling KSR Rudder and the Mewis Duct. The latter has been recently introduced at the SMM 2008.

Since the launch of the fuel-saving Mewis Duct Becker has signed the first orders. The brand-new product will be installed on three existing vessels as retrofit. Becker expects to improve the propulsion by at least 5% and 7.5% respectively. The new Schilling KSR Rudder, is primarily suitable for tankers and bulk carriers, but also suitable for application to any other type of vessel.

With its Twisted Rudder technology Becker Marine Systems offers rudders with unchallenged manoeuvrability, lowest possible risk of cavitation erosion and reduced fuel consumption. Thus Becker combines the main topics of today’s shipbuilding: To increase the efficiency and to protect the environment at the same time. The Twisted Leading Edge Rudder TLKSR has been fitted to over 50% of today’s giant container vessels worldwide of 8,000 TEU and above. The twisted rudders have already become a standard for fast container vessels, PCTCs, RoRo, Ropax and cruise vessels.
