Mariner Supports Historic Baltimore Clipper
The Mariner Group and its parent company, ARES Security Corporation, recently donated an iPad to the historic Pride of Baltimore II, a famous reconstruction of the early 19th century Baltimore clipper ship. Using the CommandPost iPad app, the ship's captains can now access CommandBridge—Mariner's award-winning situational awareness platform—aboard the vessel. This was an opportunity for the two companies to jointly outfit the Pride of Baltimore II with the nation's leading situation awareness software, which is installed at nearly 40-percent of the top U.S. ports.
"Having a best-of-breed maritime decision support tool like Mariner's CommandBridge in full operational use onboard the Pride of Baltimore II is a natural alignment. They both represent breakthrough technology solutions that join a distinguished line of American maritime innovations that have served to enhance homeland security," said the Honorable Tom Ridge, first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and CEO of Ridge Global.
CommandBridge will give the vessel's operators a detailed view of their environment while at sea or in port as the Pride of Baltimore II continues its quarter-century voyage to commemorate America's victory in the War of 1812.
"It's exciting for our company to be involved with the Pride of Baltimore," said Robert Scott, Senior Vice President of Business Development and Marketing for ARES Security. "We're putting contemporary technology onboard a historic artifact, which is a very interesting fusion of old and new. "
Mariner and ARES Security have also joined the Pride of Baltimore II as sponsors, and will host the ship in three East Coast ports during the spring and summer of 2015. Visitors to those ports will have the opportunity to tour the historic clipper ship and see CommandBridge in action.
