DP World Australia Expedites Navis N4 Upgrades

Navis, the global technology standard for managing the movement of cargo through terminals, has announced that DP World Australia has reached another major milestone. The three terminals, Sydney, Fremantle and Melbourne, utilized automated testing to complete three Navis N4 terminal operating system (TOS) upgrades in rapid succession, further standardizing and centralizing DP World Australia’s technology platform.

“We are committed to evolving the technology used at our terminals. N4 version 2.4.7 allows us to manage terminal operations more effectively and productively and as a result, provides a greater level of reliability to our customers,” said Richard Johnstone, Director of Business Systems Solutions at DP World Australia. “This sizable upgrade was completed within a four-hour window which is a testament to the skill and dedication of our Business Systems Solutions team and terminal system personnel. The project called “Chatterjee Strategy” was planned in March and executed this month on time and in line with our centralized / standardized strategy. Moving our Sydney and Fremantle terminals from SN4 2.1 to SN4 2.4.7 was a major upgrade in itself,” said Johnstone.

The success of DP World Australia’s upgrade is attributed to new centralized and automated testing processes and Oracle Database Appliances. These centralized and automated testing processes cover all the basic functionality and load testing requirements, which save valuable resource time and allow terminal staff to concentrate on the specific enhancement testing.

N4 is Navis’ latest generation TOS that gives terminal operators a flexible and scalable platform and access to regular new software releases needed to upgrade and optimize their operations, either for a single terminal or for multiple terminals spanning numerous geographic locations that can be managed from one central location.
