Art Anderson Associates announced the addition of naval architect Dr. Günther Migeotte to its marine division. Dr. Migeotte, a world leader in the design and testing of hydrofoil supported catamarans, joined the firm from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he was responsible for all commercial and research projects related to naval architecture carried out at the University including the design and model testing of the original “Hysucat” and the improved “Hysuwac” version of the high-speed, hydrofoil assisted catamaran.
At the University, Dr. Migeotte was responsible for towing tank testing of high speed craft, CFD and theoretical calculations for resistance and powering of high speed craft, catamaran hull design (semi-displacement, semi-planing and planing types), planing hull design, hydrofoil design, and hydrofoil retrofits to existing hulls. This expertise has been put to work in the use of interceptors for drag reduction and steering, design for wake wash reduction, sea trials of high speed craft, the structural design of hydrofoils, and the manufacturing of hydrofoils.
Dr. Migeotte received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Pretoria, and his Masters of Science degree and Doctorate from the University of Stellenbosch in mechanical engineering (naval architecture). He has published articles and presented technical papers internationally on the developments in hydrofoil assistance for high-speed catamaran ferries.
Dr. Migeotte will bring his expertise to bear on Art Anderson Associates’ “Dragonfly” research and development project, which is in the testing stages, and will be available to provide assistance to our clients in water transportation planning and systems design. “Over the last decade, Art Anderson Associates has pushed the envelope in both advanced hull materials and hull design.
