USCG Assists Tug Taking on Water

The Coast Guard provided assistance to a tugboat taking on water in Chesapeake Bay, Va. last night. Tug Osceola began taking on water at about 9 p.m. near Rappahannock Shoal Channel in the Chesapeake Bay and called the Coast Guard for assistance. A Coast Guard HH-60 rescue helicopter from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., lowered a dewatering pump to the three-person tugboat crew to help keep up with the flooding and a 41-foot small boat crew from Station Milford Haven, Va. stabilized the tugs empty fuel barge which also had two people onboard. The cause of the flooding is unknown.
