The Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure will conduct a hearing on June 12, 2002 on the Maritime Disaster Family Assistance Act of 2001 (H.R. 2228). That act, among other things, would require the U.S. Coast Guard to designate a person to serve as the point of contact between the federal government and families of passengers and crew involved in certain marine casualties.
