CMA CGM, a leading worldwide shipping Group, pays tribute to Zaha Hadid, who sadly died on March 31st. Zaha Hadid a renowned architect and 2004 Pritzker Prize Winner, completed the CMA CGM Tower in Marseilles as one of her major projects.
In 2004, with the growth of the CMA CGM Group, Jacques R. Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, decided to build a new Head Office in Marseilles. Zaha Hadid presented him a tower’s sketch: he immediately appreciated her project’s elegance, mixing architectural curves and lines.
From this long-term collaboration resulted the CMA CGM Tower, a 147 meter tall architectural masterpiece, completed in December 2010. The CMA CGM Tower is a symbolic link between the sea and the city of Marseilles, anchoring the Group to its environment and international vocation. It also represents CMA CGM’s boldness and initiative.
Today, 2,400 CMA CGM staff enjoy an unparalleled work environment. Zaha Hadid’s creation is not only an emblematic building: this 33-floor tower with a 64,000 square meter surface, offers an impressive variety of staff environments and work spaces.
