Transport Minister David Collenette today announced the
appointment of Roger Flood of St. John's,
Newfoundland and Labrador, as the
president and chief executive officer of Marine
Atlantic Inc.
"I am pleased that Mr. Flood has agreed to take
on new responsibilities with
Marine Atlantic Inc. His experience in the
transportation sector and expertise
in the areas of engineering, finance,
management and administration will be
assets to Marine Atlantic," said Mr.
Collenette. "I would also like to express
my personal gratitude to Capt. Sidney Hynes for
his exemplary work in this
position since 2001 and in his continued
position as chair of the board."
Mr. Flood currently serves as the president of
Day and Ross (Nfld.) Ltd., a
freight trucking company, where he is
responsible for personnel,
administration, and the daily operations of the
company. He holds a bachelor
of Civil Engineering degree from Nova Scotia
Technical College and is also a
member of the Association of Professional
Engineers and Geoscientists of
Newfoundland and Labrador. Mr. Flood previously
served as vice-president and
partner of Nova Recycling (1990) Limited, and
as director and partner of
Atlantic Group Limited. He has served as
director of the Workplace Health,
Safety and Compensation Commission since 2001,
and the Canadian
Chamber of Commerce since 1998. In 1995, he
served as the president of the
St. John's Board of Trade.
