In combination with the VOSSRing preassembly studs, VOSSRing also meets the demands placed on assembly reliability and leak prevention, as confirmed by a series of certifications such as the recent permit for gas applications. The cutting ring had already been granted certificates for the marine and offshore sectors from all major international classification societies. It is now seamlessly integrated into the fluid specialist’s complete range of couplings: they are mostly approved for both the marine and offshore sectors as well as for gas applications. One particularity is certification of the 24 conical seal couplings (German DKO) for the gas sector.

Vibrations, saltwater and high pressures – hardly any sector places such strict requirements on coupling technology as the marine and offshore industry. For this application area with the metallic sealing VOSSRing, VOSS Fluid provides an appropriate solution with over-tightening protection. The independent auditing company DNV • GL has tested the cutting ring and released it for the international market for a maximum nominal pressure of 800 bar. The release also applies to operation with hydraulic and lubricating oil, heavy fuel oil, steam and even for the safe transport of fresh and seawater.

The auditors in DNV • GL also performed bursting pressure, leakage and combined pressure impulse and bending fatigue strength tests. During this, the VOSSRingM with its optimum tube notching and its geometric reinforcements achieved the highest degree of protection against leaks and compressive strength. The cutting ring which was put on the market in 2015 achieved its special ease of assembly by combining it with the VOSSRing preassembly tool. Thanks to the zinc nickel coating, it also provides long-lasting corrosion protection even in contact with saltwater. Additional advantages for the user: Not only does the coating achieve the best results in the saltspray test but thanks to the hard nickel proportion is also resistant to mechanical stress.

On top of that the cutting ring is approved by additional certification companies of the IACS (International Association of Classification Societies).

The VOSSRing is also approved by DVGW for the transport of compressed air, gas and liquid gas by public gas companies in Germany. The maximum operating pressure (MOP) here according to the DVGW certificate is allowed up to 250 bar. The operating temperature is stated for a range between -20°C and 60°C. Furthermore, a constituent of the certificate is approval of the 24° conical seal couplings (DKO). The conical seal attached to the coupling body creates an especially secure and permanently stable access connection. The connection also attains its high degree of fine leakproofness through an embedded O-ring.
