Management of Onboard Illness & Injury
MedLink will be hosting two training classes in Newport, RI for the following courses and dates. Enrollments must be received by June 12th and the classes are limited to eight students per class.

MedLink’s signature three-day Maritime course teaches assessment and treatment skills for a wide range of medical and trauma situations. This will include American Heart Association certification in CPR and hands-on practice with a number of invasive procedures including wound management, intravenous fluids and medications, intra-muscular injections and more. Management of orthopedic and soft tissue emergencies is covered in detail. In addition, the instructors will review the vessel's medical supplies with the crew and ensure that everyone is familiar with the variety of equipment and medications in the inventory.
Competency in Elementary First Aid

This one-day course provides basic first aid for the private Maritime operator or crew member. Course curriculum includes an introduction to radio medical advice, lecture and practicum in Basic Life Support (CPR) and use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), protection from bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease through use of universal precautions, maritime first aid, medical kit review, and splinting and stabilization procedures.
There will be various other classes at different locations in the upcoming months in case these dates and/or locations do not work for you. Also, we can schedule a personal training class onboard at any time, if desired.
