Climax Portable Machine Tools, Inc. a global leader in comprehensive, on-site machining solutions for the power generation, shipbuilding, industrial and engineering sectors, announced that Scott Simmons has joined the company as the Vice President of Manufacturing and Brian Harris as Vice President of Sales. Simmons is an expert in lean manufacturing and will assist Climax in streamlining the workflows and shipment of their machine tools. Harris will assist with worldwide sales management, new product development and promoting Climax services to international customers and prospects.
Simmons’ previous experience in manufacturing, quality and engineering management with Columbia Machine and The Boeing Company have allowed Simmons to hone his extensive skills in the area of lean practices, Demand Based Manufacturing and Root Cause Analysis. He is currently the Director of the West Regional Board of the Association of Manufacturing Excellence. Simmons also served as a business consultant for the Oregon Manufacturing Extension Partnership, a non-profit organization helping Oregon manufacturers improve business performance through workforce training, cultural awareness and change management. Simmons received his Business Administration Degree from Warner Pacific College, and a Master of Business Administration from George Fox University.
Harris brings to his position more than 15 years of executive sales leadership and management experience in international manufacturing firms including Stanley-Vidmar, Domino Amjet, Invensys Building Systems, and Yuasa. Harris holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from California State University at Sacramento, and has received continuing business training from University of New Hampshire, Whitmore School of Business.
Climax recently announced plans to expand its facilities in Newberg, Oregon to fulfill customer need for cost-effective machine solutions. At its worldwide headquarters in Newberg last month, the company broke ground on an expanded facility that will house assembly and rental equipment operations as well as double its training capacity. In addition, Climax announced the official opening of its new European headquarters facility in Germany where building and construction began last year.
