Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

July 27, 1999

A two-year, $1 million grant was awarded to Ohio-based CC Technologies Laboratories - with support from NACE International, The Corrosion Society - to estimate the total cost of metallic corrosion in the U.S., and to provide cost-effective strategies to minimize its impact. The study is funded through the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21), administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation. Economic sectors to be studied include transportation infrastructure such as airports, bridges, underground oil and gas pipelines, and water and sewage systems. The study will also investigate modes of conveyance and storage, such as aircraft, motor vehicles, ships, storage tanks and trains.
