Al Roker to Host Coast Guard Foundation Gala
The Coast Guard Foundation announced today that Al Roker will host its 32nd Annual Salute to the United States Coast Guard on Thursday, October 11, 2012 in New York City. Nine-time Emmy winner Al Roker is the producer of The Weather Channel’s docu-series Coast Guard Alaska and the upcoming series Coast Guard Florida, as well as numerous other programs. The gala event honors the bravery and courage of the U.S. Coast Guard personnel who enforce maritime law, protect our homeland and preserve the environment.
“I am privileged to host the Coast Guard Foundation’s Annual Salute and support the work they do for the men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard,” said Mr. Roker. “The Coast Guard goes out when no one else will — and they save lives in the process. It is an incredible organization and these guardians deserve our admiration, support and gratitude for their efforts. It is truly an honor to help the Coast Guard Foundation at their Salute and in their efforts to support these brave individuals.”
“The Coast Guard Foundation is thrilled to have Mr. Roker join us in tribute to the Coast Guard in New York,” said Anne B. Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “Al’s work on the two series, Coast Guard Alaska and Coast Guard Florida, helps shine a light on the great work of the Coast Guard. He is showing a national TV audience what we already know — Coast Guard members give so much to all of us in our time of greatest need — they are real-life heroes doing extraordinary things everyday.”
