The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the Panama Canal Authority will sign an agreement designed to boost trade between Asia and the Port of New York
and New Jersey at an 11 a.m. ceremony on Tuesday, June 17, at the Newark
Club in downtown Newark, N.J.
Asia is the leading trading partner of the New York-New Jersey port,
providing a wide range of goods for this region's 18 million consumers,
including furniture, sporting goods, footware and toys. There currently
are 13 shipping lines that provide service between Asia and the port
through the Panama Canal.
