W&O, supplier of marine valves, pipe, fittings, engineered products and valve automation systems, announced that Michael Hume has been appointed President and CEO of W&O. He has been serving as the company’s Chief Operating Officer since 2009.
Jack Guidry, former president and CEO of W&O, has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Pon and CEO of PVI, one of Pon’s American holding companies, which owns W&O, DMC-Carter Chambers and AT Controls. He will be relocating to Houston to lead and continue to grow the PVI group, leveraging existing Pon resources in the area to help expand PVI’s overall position in North America and internationally.
“Michael’s enthusiasm for and familiarity with W&O, including our employees, customers and vendors, along with his expertise in the maritime industry, uniquely positions him to lead the company as it plans for the future,” said Guidry. “Michael has served W&O and our customers successfully in a variety of capacities, providing him with a high level of experience in every aspect of W&O’s business. The Pon executive team anticipates continued growth and success for W&O with Michael at the helm.”
Hume previously worked at W&O from 1992 to 2000, joining the company initially as the branch manager of W&O’s Long Beach office. Subsequently he served in various positions including Regional Manager, National Sales Manager, Executive Vice President and President. Hume stepped down in 2000 to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family before rejoining W&O in 2007 as Director of Business Development. During this time, Hume analyzed and pursued acquisitions in the maritime industry and increased organic growth before being promoted to COO.
Hume has been actively involved in community activities, serving in the past as a Big Brother and a Junior Achievement mentor. He also supports the Mary Knoll Mission and the local Ronald McDonald House. Hume earned his Bachelor's degree in finance and his MBA in International Business from Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.
