Dutch shipbuilder Royal IHC announced it has signed an agreement with the Vietnamese shipyard Nam Trieu for the construction of a 2,300 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger.This project, commissioned by De Boer - Dutch Dredging, marks the beginning of what is expected to be a long term collaboration in Asia, according to Royal IHC."The collaboration with Nam Trieu is the concretization of our two-pillar strategy," says CEO Derk te Bokkel. Dutch Dredging Orders Hopper Dredge from Royal IHC
Royal IHC announced it has won a contract from Baggerbedrijf de Boer - Dutch Dredging BV for the design and construction of a custom-built trailing suction hopper dredger with a hopper capacity of 2,300 m3.The Dutch shipbuilder noted it has already built four custom-built vessels for Dutch Dredging, and the new trailing suction hopper dredger will be an upgrade of the Lesse, delivered by Royal IHC to Dutch Dredging in 2019.
Kalypso, Royal IHC Partner to Build US' First Jones Act Cable Layer for Offshore Wind
New York-based Kalypso Offshore Energy on Monday announced it is teaming up with Dutch marine technology group and shipbuilder Royal IHC to design and construct a Jones Act compliant cable lay vessel (CLV)—the first purpose-built for the U.S. offshore wind market.Under a newly signed letter of intent (LOI), the partners are working together to finalize contract, engineering and construction details to domestically produce a 5,000-ton CLV for anticipated delivery in 2028.

Royal IHC Ships Equipment for Weeks' New Hopper Dredge
A shipment of Royal IHC's equipment is traveling from Europe to the U.S. to be installed on Weeks Marine's new trailing suction hopper dredge (TSHD) R.B. Weeks, currently under construction at Eastern Shipbuilding Group's Allanton shipyard in Florida. In May of 2020, Royal IHC and Weeks Marine Inc. entered into a contract for the engineering and equipment delivery for the 6,540-cubic-meter-capacity newbuild, an identical vessel to the Magdalen delivered to Weeks from Eastern in 2017.
HNLMS De Ruyter Gets New Gearbox Mountings
Since the beginning of May, Royal IHC has been busy replacing the propulsion gearbox mountings on the HNLMS De Ruyter. This work is part of a maintenance program for the Air Defense and Command Frigates (LCF). Royal IHC will replace the mountings on all four LCF-frigates for the Royal Netherlands Navy.Annemieke Selbach, Head of Purchasing at the Royal Netherlands Navy, said, “Royal IHC has taken on an enormously challenging project in the replacement of the mountings on the frigates.
