Norsafe Enters the Cruise and Passenger Ferry Market
Lifeboat manufacturer Norsafe has developed a new partially enclosed lifeboat (PELB) for passenger vessels: the SOLAS compliant Minima 88, a compact 8.8m long boat with a width of 4.25m for 150 persons. Norsafe Secures $23 mln in Contracts
Norsafe reported that it has secured more than 200 million NOK ($23.6 million) in LSA contracts that have been put out to tender so far this year. In addition to the recently announced contract with Kværner for delivery of three of Norsafe’s largest freefall lifeboats with davit systems to the Njord A platform, Norsafe has won several other significant contracts, both for new builds and upgrade projects.
Norsafe Lifeboat Systems Ordered for Njord A Platform
Norsafe has received orders from Kværner relating to the delivery of new lifeboat systems to Statoil’s Njord A platform. Norsafe will supply three lifeboat systems of its largest freefall lifeboat, the GES 52, with compatible davits. The lifeboat systems are built according to SOLAS and DNV-OS-E406, and although the products were developed just a few years ago, they have already been delivered to many installations worldwide.

Norsafe Secures Contract with VARD Group
Norsafe informs it has signed a new contract with VARD Group, and will supply lifeboats complete with davit systems to a series of 15 new vessels. Topaz Energy and Marine has appointed shipbuilder VARD Group to construct 15 Module Carrying Vessels (MCVs), each measuring 123 meters long by 16.5 meters wide. The MCVs will be built at three of VARD’s sites in Vietnam and Romania. Norsafe will deliver two JYN 57 conventional lifeboats with LHD-60 davit systems to each vessel.

Norsafe launched a new boat, the Marathon 900 RIB, the company's first RIB complementing an already wide range of boats for professional and military customers. The Marathon 900 RIB was demonstrated with two newly developed Mercury outboard engines that can run on diesel fuel. Mercury OptiMax Diesel Outboard, which was developed for the U.S. Armed Forces, is a 3.0 liter V6 engine that produces 175 propshaft horsepower.
