ULA Orders Rocket Transport Ship from Bollinger
American aerospace manufacturer ULA on Wednesday announced it has ordered a new ship to transport rockets from its factory in Decatur, Ala. to launch sites at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.ULA said it awarded a contract to build the 356-foot-long roll-on/roll-off vessel to Bollinger Shipyards, who recently started constructing the new ship at its shipyard in Amelia, La.

Bollinger to Build Pontoon Launcher for Electric Boat
Bollinger Shipyards on Monday announced it will construct a new pontoon launcher for General Dynamics Electric Boat to support the construction and launching of the U.S. Navy’s Columbia Class Ballistic Missile Submarines.The concept and contract design for the 496- by 95-foot pontoon launcher was performed by the Bristol Harbor Group in Rhode Island. Mat Sinking Unit in Modernization Drive
Millions of dollars of goods are transported up and down the Mississippi every year. Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) announced the addition of naval architect Zachary Gilfus and mechanical engineer Marissa Stutzman to its naval architecture and marine engineering practice. Gilfus is the most recent addition to BHGI, joining the team at the end of August as a naval architect and marine engineer. Gilfus graduated this past spring from Webb Institute with a Bachelor’s of Science in naval architecture and marine engineering.

Bristol Harbor Group Continues Expansion
The Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) announced the continued expansion of its naval architecture and marine engineer practice. Over the past six months the company has welcomed four new additions to the team: Annie Fisher, Naval Architect; Nathan Seelig, Mechanical Engineer; Christopher Cluett, Naval Architect; and Rhea Levin, Administrative Assistant. Annie Fisher graduated in 2013 from the University of Michigan with a B.S.E in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
Bristol Harbor Group Designs Two NYPA Tugs
Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI) was recently awarded a contract by the New York Power Authority (NYPA) to engineer, design and perform construction supervision support services for two new tug vessels. The tugs will be used primarily for deployment, retrieval and maintenance of an ice boom annually installed near the outlet of Lake Erie to help protect NYPA’s hydroelectric plant intakes on the Niagara River from heavy ice floes. The designs are expected to be completed in 2014.
Bristol Harbor Group Designs Offshore Oil Towboat
Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. designs towboat in support of offshore oil field development in Alaska. Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI), of Bristol, RI, was contracted by Northern Maritime Logistics, LLC of Anchorage, Alaska, for the design of both a towboat and the bow ramp for a new, USCG Inspected deck barge. Both vessels have been put into service use on the North Slope of Alaska, servicing Nikaitchuq Island in support of oil field development.

Bristol Harbor Group Designed Deck Barge
Argosy Transportation Group, Inc., Bellaire, Texas, has signed a contract with Trinity Marine Products, Inc., Madisonville, La., to build the Jean-M 2501, a 250-ft by 54-ft by 12-ft inland deck barge. The vessel, designed by Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI), will have a 3,000 pound per square foot (PSF) maximum allowable deck load, and will primarily service the inland project cargo market. Argosy has chosen BHGI’s Houston affiliate, Bristol Harbor Group South, Inc.
