Caterpillar Supplies Engines for Tier 4 Tug
Caterpillar Marine has supplied two Cat 3516E Tier 4 main engines to the Andrew S. The EPA Tier 4 Final and Subchapter M azimuth stern drive (ASD) tractor tug was delivered to Bisso Towboat Co.Each engine generates 3,004 bhp at 1,800 rpm and a selective catalyst reduction (SCR) system. At 6,008 bhp, Andrew S. is the most powerful Tier 4 tug on the Mississippi River.The Andrew S. measures 100’ x 38’ x 13.5’ and has an estimated bollard pull of 84 tons. BISSO MARINE Acquires Derrick/Pipelay Barge
BISSO MARINE has acquired offshore pipelay industry's stalwart derrick/pipelay barge GLOBAL IROQUOIS. The 400 foot x 100 foot x 30 foot laybarge has performed pipelay operations worldwide and will be renamed BISSO IROQUOIS. The central part of the barge’s substantial station keeping system are the ten single drum winches with 320 kips of pulling force and 744 kip holding force each. Each single drum winch holds 5,300 feet of 2.5 inch wire rope.

Bisso Marine Subsea Basket Lift
Bisso Marine lifted two sections of a subsea basket weighing 275 tons each. The company used the D/B Cappy Bisso to lift the two sections of the subsea basket onto a materials barge for delivery offshore. The derrick barge had to hold one of the 275-ton sections in place while the two pieces were welded together.
Bisso Marine Performs Heavy Lift Jobs
Bisso Marine performed two heavy lift jobs involving a 200-ton vessel and a 560-ton hull. Using the D/B Cappy Bisso, the crew launched a 200-ton crew boat from shore to the Harvey Canal. Bisso Marine Loads Umbilical Reel
Bisso Marine successfully loaded a 281-ton umbilical reel onto an offshore installation vessel. Using the 700-ton D/B Cappy Bisso, the crew loaded the 281-ton umbilical reel from shore to the installation vessel for transport to a deepwater location 190 miles south of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico. Since 1890, Bisso Marine has provided quality services to the marine and energy industries, offering marine construction, pipe laying, salvage, heavy-lift and diving services.
Bisso Marine Safety Award Winner
Bisso Marine, a provider of energy and maritime support services, announced that Taylor King is the winner of the annual Bisso Marine Safety Award Drawing. King was selected from a pool of 220 eligible employees. To be eligible for the drawing, an employee must be employed by the company for the entire calendar year without having had an accident, safety infraction, negative performance review or disciplinary write-up.

Bisso Marine Promotes Posik
Bisso Marine a provider of energy and maritime support services, announced the promotion of Glenn Posik to general manager of Diving and Subsea Services. In his new position, Posik manages all aspects of diving safety and diving operations. Before his promotion, Posik served as project manager for the Bisso Marine Pipeline Department. Prior to joining the company, he was project manager for Superior Diving Company Inc. and construction superintendent for Torch Offshore, Inc.
Bisso Marine Buries Pipeline in Gulf
Bisso Marine, a provider of energy and maritime support services, successfully buried a pipeline 16 feet below the hardened seabed of the Gulf of Mexico. Working in 54 feet of water, the crew of the DLB Big Chief installed a hot tap and used one of the company’s three 2,700 gpm@1,150 psi Super Jet Pump Systems to bury 13,893 feet of pipeline 10 miles off Galveston Island. The pipeline burial was especially challenging because of the hard shear strength of the soil on the seafloor.
Bisso Marine Acquires New SAT System
Bisso Marine, provider of energy and maritime support services, has acquired a 12-man portable Saturation Diving System. The new SAT System has a working depth of 1,000 feet (300 meters). Bisso Marine Launches Three Vessels
Bisso Marine, a provider of energy and maritime support services, successfully launched three vessels in two recent projects. Using the D/B Cappy Bisso, a Bisso Marine crew of six launched the M/V Yellowfin and the M/V Bluefin in Lockport, La. The two ocean-going tugs each weighs 520 tons. The operation was particularly challenging because the 700-ton Cappy Bisso had to be towed through Bayou Lafourche, which can be as shallow as 6 feet in some areas.
Bisso Marine Acquires Derrick Barge
Bisso Marine has added the D/B Bisso 350 derrick barge to its expanding fleet. Built to service the offshore industry, the revolving D/B Bisso 350 will be used for salvage, offshore construction and diving operations. The vessel has three load blocks: 350 mt (385 st), 150 mt (165 st) and 12 mt (13 st). “The D/B Bisso 350 is a solid addition to our fleet, increasing our capabilities and expanding the level of our services,” said President and Chief Executive Officer W.A. “Beau” Bisso IV.
Bisso Marine Adds New Lay Barge

Bisso Marine Salvages Buried Crane
Bisso Marine recently mobilized a salvage team, the salvage support barge C/B BIG EAGLE and the 700 ton capacity D/B Cappy Bisso to salvage a crawler crane which had fallen into the Atchafalaya River in Berwick, La. The crane, which weighed approximately 100 tons, was knocked into the river upon contact with the HWY 90 Bridge in 2005. At the salvage location the water was 30 ft. deep, but in the two years since the collision, the crane had settled to approximately 25 feet below the river bottom.
