Austal USA announces the promotion of Craig Perciavalle to President, Austal USA. Mr. Perciavalle is currently serving as Senior Vice President of Operations. He joined Austal USA in 2007, serving in a number of senior management positions while overseeing Austal’s transition from a small, conventional commercial shipyard to an efficient, modular manufacturer of the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship and Joint High Speed Vessel.

GE Marine announces it has delivered two LM2500 marine aeroderivative gas turbines to Austal USA’s Mobile, Alabama, shipyard. These units will power the United States Navy’s Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship Jackson (LCS 6). Main engine plant of USN 127-meter Littoral Combat Ship 'Coronado' (LCS 4) powered up by shipbuilders, Austal. Austal has completed main engine light off of the two MTU 9,100kW 20V 8000 M71 propulsion diesel engines and the two 22,000kW GE LM2500 gas turbine engines, following the fuel load and testing of all four generators. The diesels are considered the highest power high-speed diesel engines in the world.

Euroferries' express Ramsgate – Boulogne cross channel service to launch in 2013 with the Austal hi-speed 102m trimaran. The vessel will arrive in January 2013, with the service becoming fully operational between Boulogne and Ramsgate during February 2013. The service will offer 4 daily crossings, catering for passengers, cars and luxury coaches. The trimaran is capable of achieving speeds in excess of 40 knots thus enabling Euroferries to provide one of the fastest channel crossings available.

Austal held a keel-laying ceremony for the third Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) – Jackson (LCS 6), one of five Austal-designed 127-m U.S. Navy Independence-variant LCS under contract with the U.S. Navy. Dr. Katherine Holmes Cochran, the ship’s sponsor, was present to weld her initials onto the keel plate as the Keel Authenticator. She was assisted by J.B. Shipbuilding & allied marine industries provider Austal publishes its financial report for year ended 30, June 2012. The Group operating profit after tax for the year was $11.043 million compared with the previous year of $21.890 million. Revenue has increased by $149.140 million over the previous year while operating profit before tax has decreased by $7.235 million. This year’s results reflect some of the challenges Austal faces.

A 41 metre high speed aluminium passenger catamaran, “Vale Grand Sud” has recently entered into operation for mining company Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie, marking the fourth Austal-built vessel to operate in New Caledonia. “Vale Grand Sud” was designed to provide new levels of speed and comfort to members of the company’s 1,000 strong workforce, as they commute between Noumea and the Goro mine site’s Prony Port.
