Ukraine economy minister visits Turkey to discuss free trade deal

Posted to Maritime Reporter on August 1, 2024

Svyrydenko, the Ukrainian Minister of Economy, arrived in Turkey on Thursday to discuss the ratification and strengthening economic co-operation with Ankara.

Svyrydenko, a member of the X social network, said that the meeting also included expanding the cooperation between Ukrainian & Turkish companies within the frameworks of the Free Trade Agreement as well as the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction and its integration with the EU.

Her focus was also on food security, Ukrainian Peace Initiatives, regional trade and navigation safety, as well as demining Black Sea waters.

The free-trade agreement with Turkey will reduce the cost of many Ukrainian products, making them more attractive.

It is not clear when the Ukrainian Parliament will ratify the agreement. The Ukrainian parliament has not yet determined the date of ratification.
