Uganda plans to connect a new railway line with Tanzania to open a new export route

A government document seen by revealed that Uganda is looking to connect a new rail line it's building with one being built in Tanzania. This could potentially open up a 'new export route for minerals like iron ore, gold and copper. Uganda exports most of its goods via the Kenyan port in Mombasa.

Four officials with knowledge of the situation say that the Turkey is now mediating between Somalia, Ethiopia and a port agreement Addis Ababa made with the Somaliland breakaway region earlier this year. Negotiations are the latest effort to repair diplomatic ties.
