The Iranian judiciary’s Mizan News Agency reported on Tuesday that Iran will auction off two seized oil tanks involved in oil smuggling.

Mizan quoted a judiciary official saying that "Two oil tanks Sagha 2... and Ariana... would be sold at the auction".

According to Iran's official media, the Revolutionary Guards of Iran seized in October 2022 the Panama-flagged vessel Ariana, which was carrying 11 million litres (or smuggled diesel) in the Gulf.

According to a court order, the National Iranian Oil Company received the contents of the tanker.

The Mizan news agency has not provided any further information about the Sagha 2 oil tanker.

Iran has fought fuel smuggling on land and at sea, both to neighboring countries and Gulf Arab states. (Reporting and editing by Michael Perry; Elwely Elwelly)
