South Korea's MFG bids for 140,000 t corn, traders claim
Major Feedmill Group in South Korea (MFG) issued a tender for the purchase of up to 140.000 metric tons animal feed corn, which must be purchased from South America or South Africa alone, European traders reported on Thursday.
The deadline to submit price bids in the tender is on Friday, July 12th.
The corn will arrive in South Korea between December 55,000 and 70,000 tons in two consignments. Sellers are free to choose the exact volume within this range.
The MFG purchased approximately 68,000 tonnes of animal feed wheat at an international tender that was held earlier in the day on Thursday.
A corn shipment for delivery around December 10 was requested for shipment between October 12 and 31 from South America, or between Oct. 22 to Nov. 10 if coming from South Africa.
Second consignment to arrive around December 12 was requested for shipment between October 14 and November 2 from South America, or between October 24 and November 12 from South Africa.
The tender is seeking price offers both in terms of outright cost per ton and freight included (c&f), or at a higher premium than the Chicago December corn contract.
The South Korean Korea Feed Association is said to have rejected the offers and not made any purchases in a Thursday tender to purchase up to 68,000 tonnes of feed corn. It's believed that the lowest price was $241.99 per ton c&f.
