Eneco Ocean Winds and Otary bid on Belgian wind tender

Posted to Maritime Reporter on July 12, 2024

On Friday, Eneco Ocean Winds, and Otary, wind developers, announced that they had formed a consortium in order to compete for an offshore wind tender.

The tender is to develop wind energy in the Princess Elizabeth Zone in the Belgian North Sea.

The PEZ contract will be divided into three lots, including one for a 700 Megawatt (MW), offshore wind farm. Two other lots are for offshore wind farms with capacities ranging between 1,225 and 1,400 MW.

The consortium has stated that it will participate in all tenders, with the first one expected to be in 2025.

The companies had previously partnered for the development of the SeaMade Offshore Wind Farm in Belgium. This farm has been operating since the end 2020.

By 2030, Belgium hopes to have a total capacity of 5,8 gigawatts for offshore wind. (Reporting and editing by Jason Neely; Nina Chestney)
