Yemen's Houthis claim they targeted a ship in Haifa with Islamic Resistance in Iraq
Yemen's Houthis claimed on Wednesday that they had used drones to target a ship at Israel's Haifa Port in a joint operation with the Islamic Resistance of Iraq.
Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Iran-aligned Houthi Group, said that the operation was directed at the container ship MSC Manzanillo flying the Portuguese flag.
A spokesperson for the Israeli military said that it was not aware of such an incident. There were no signs of unusual activity at Haifa Port.
Since November, the Houthi group is launching drones and missiles on shipping lanes in what they claim to be in solidarity with Palestinians living in Gaza.
In November, the Houthis of Iran's allies launched their first drone and missile attacks in shipping lanes. In dozens attacks, the Houthis have sunk or seized two ships, captured another, and killed at minimum three seafarers.
