Yemen's Houthis announced early Sunday morning that they conducted a military operation in conjunction with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq militants, which targeted four ships in Israel's Haifa port in northern Israel.

Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesman, stated in a televised announcement that two cement tanks and two cargo vessels were attacked by drones at the Haifa Port on Saturday.

He claimed that the ships were owned by companies who "violated the prohibition on entering the port of occupied Palestine".

The Israeli military didn't immediately comment on the claim, but it had previously denied that similar claims by the Houthis

Saree said that the Houthis also attacked the Shorthorn Express using drones in the Mediterranean as part of their campaign to disrupt shipping on key waterways. They claim this is a show of solidarity with Palestinians during the Gaza War.

Saree stated that "the two operations achieved their goals and the strikes were direct and precise."

The claims of strike action could not be verified because there was no independent confirmation.

In November, the Houthis of Iran's allies launched their first drone and missile attacks in shipping lanes. In dozens attacks, the Houthis have sunk or seized two ships, killed three seafarers and seized a third. Hatem Maher, Ahmed Tolba and Daniel Wallis edited the article.
