Ukrainian PM: Russian Gas Transit Deal will not be Extended After Dec 31
Denys Schmyhal, Ukrainian Prime Minister, said Monday that a deal to allow the transit of Russian Gas through his country will not be extended past the end of this year.
Shmyhal wrote on Telegram after speaking with Slovak Prime Minster Robert Fico that Ukraine is willing to discuss the transit of gas from any source except Russia.
He said: "To that effect, if European Commission approaches Ukraine officially about transit of any other gas than Russian, then we will naturally discuss it and be ready to come up with an appropriate agreement."
I stressed that the agreement between Ukraine and Russia for gas transit will end on January 1, 2025, and it won't be extended." (Reporting and editing by Ron Popeski)
