Ukraine restores ferry service to Georgia's Black Sea Port of Batumi
According to its timetable, Ukrainian ferry company Ukrferry plans to resume service between the Black Sea ports of Chornomorsk in Georgia and Batumi.
After the Russian invasion in Ukraine, 2022, the ferry service was suspended. The ferry service will be resumed, allowing Kyiv direct access to markets in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
The first flight is scheduled to leave Chornomorsk at 9 am on 7/7 and arrive in Georgia 12/7.
The company stated that "Regular Services accept passengers... trucks, cars and railcars with conventional, hazardous or oversized cargo. Caterpillar type vehicles. Palletized and non-palletized cargo on deck."
The company's route map shows that the ferry will largely bypass the Russian-occupied Ukrainian Crimea Peninsula.
Last year, Ukraine opened a route towards the western Black Sea after Ukrainian forces were able to drive Russian naval ships from that area by using sea drones.
The corridor has enabled Ukraine to increase its metal and grain exports. (Reporting and editing by Kirsty Donovan; Pavel Polityuk)
