Ukraine grain exports are 47.4 million tonnes, says ministry
The Agriculture Ministry reported on Wednesday that Ukraine's grain imports for the July-June 2023/24 marketing season reached 47.4 millions metric tons as of June 5, up from the 45.6 million tons exported at the same date in 2020.
The data shows that this season's exports include 483,000 tons of goods since the beginning of June.
Exports totaled 17.6 millions tons of wheat, 24.9 million tons corn and 2.4 million tonnes of barley.
Ukraine exports approximately 95% of grain via its Black Sea port.
The Ukrainian government anticipates an 81.3-million-ton harvest of grains and oilseeds in this season. This will result in a 50-million ton exportable surplus for 2023/24.
According to the ministry, in 2024, the combined grain and oilseeds crop could be 74 million tonnes. This includes 52.4 millions tons of grain.
The Ministry of Economy forecasts that the grain and oilseed crop will reach 73 million tonnes in 2024. (Reporting and editing by David Goodman)
