The Agriculture Ministry announced on Friday that Ukraine's grain imports for 2024/25 had reached nearly 18.9 million metric tonnes as of December 6, compared to about 13.7 millions tons in Dec. 2006, according to data.

This volume consisted of 9.1 million tonnes of wheat, 7,6 million tons corn and 1.9 millions tons barley.

Ukraine's government has agreed with farm associations to limit the export of wheat to 16,2 million tonnes in 2024/25 to ensure that there is enough for its domestic market.

According to the Ministry, it is estimated that in 2024, the combined grain and oilseeds crop will fall to 77 millions tons, with 54 million tons being grain.

The Ukrainian grain exports for the marketing season 2023/24 increased to 51 million tons, up from 49.2 millions tons in the previous year. (Reporting and editing by Yuliia Dyesa)
