Posted to Maritime Reporter on October 2, 2024

Ukraine exported 207,000 tons of barley to Ukraine in September, and the union of Ukrainian farmers UAC predicted that this volume will likely be maintained in October.

Ukraine has a long history of barley production and export.

UAC stated in a press release that Ukrainian barley was still in demand on the international market, with 160.000 tons already contracted for November.

In October, we anticipate barley exports to be around 200,000 tons. UAC stated that the main export destinations were Turkey, Greece Italy, Algeria, and Morocco.

According to the union, barley prices have begun to rise due to the increasing demand for feed crops in particular corn and Wheat.

The Ukrainian agriculture ministry reports that farmers have nearly completed the barley harvest for 2024, having threshed 5.54 million tonnes from almost 99% sown areas. (Reporting and editing by Louise Heavens, Pavel Polityuk)
