UKMTO: Ship evacuated with fire after Houthi attack in Yemen
United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said that on Saturday, the crew of a cargo ship flying the flag of Palau had been evacuated. The ship was also on fire and sank. This incident occurred 98 nautical mile east of Yemen’s Aden in June.
The U.S. Central Command reported that missiles fired by Yemeni Houthi militants hit the Verbena on Thursday in the Gulf of Aden, causing a fire to break out and injuring an American crew member.
Since November, the Houthis, who are allied with Iran, have launched dozens attacks against international shipping in Red Sea Region in solidarity with Palestinians during the war between Israel & Hamas.
Houthi's campaign in the Red Sea has caused global shipping to be disrupted, causing delays and increased costs throughout supply chains.
