UKMTO reports minor damage to vessel after two attacks north of Yemen's Mokha
United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said that on Saturday, it received a report about two attacks against a vessel that caused minor damage. The attack took place 64 nautical miles (118.5 km) north of Yemen's Mokha.
The captain of the ship reported that an Uncrewed Surface Vessel and an Uncrewed Aircraft System had attacked the vessel.
According to a maritime security source, the vessel was attacked by drones and a skiff. The Liberian flagged container ship has been identified. The vessel continued to maneuver at top speed after the attack, as it waited for support from a naval warship.
UKMTO reported that the captain "subsequently reported additional UAS sightings" and added, "Both the vessel as well as the crew are in safety."
A Houthi attack damaged a Singapore flagged vessel 83 nautical mile southeast of Yemen’s Aden on Friday night. UKMTO confirmed that the incident is still being investigated.
The shipping company Asiatic Lloyd, who owns and operates this ship, said in a Saturday statement that the crew and armed security guards were safe. The vessel was docked in an unknown port on its journey from Berbera, Somalia, to Colombo, Sri Lanka to assess the damage and plan repair.
