Tunisia purchases soft wheat and barley at tender, traders report
European traders reported that Tunisia’s state grain agency purchased approximately 50,000 metric tonnes of soft wheat, and 75,000 tons of animal feed barley at an international auction on Friday.
The wheat was bought by Finagrit at $267.64 per ton, cost and freight included (c&f), for 25,000 tonnes and Bulgarian trading company Buildcom at $267.77 per ton c&f.
Casillo sold 25,000 ton at $220.69 per ton, while Viterra sold 25,000 ton at $222.96 per ton.
The reports reflect the opinions of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later.
The barley was to be shipped between June 20 and July 30, depending on its origin.
The World Bank is providing the funding for the tenders, according to traders. This organisation has been helping Tunisia in its financial crisis due to a lack of foreign funds.
Tunisia bought about 100,000 tons of soft wheat at $273.69 per ton c&f in its last tender reported on May 22.
