Tunisia purchases 100,000 tons of barley at tender, traders report

Posted to Maritime Reporter on July 23, 2024

European traders reported that Tunisia's state grain agency purchased approximately 100,000 metric tonnes of animal feed barley with optional origin in a Friday international tender.

They said that the agency believed to have purchased four consignments of 25,000 tons at a price of $218.96 each, including cost and freight.

Casillo's bid was the lowest in the previous tender.

The volume of the purchase was the same as the amount requested in the tender.

Depending on origin, the shipment is requested between August 10 and September 20.

The World Bank is providing the funding for the auction, according to traders. This organisation has been helping the country deal with the ongoing financial crisis.

The grain agency in Tunisia does not always buy the lowest price if the other conditions associated with the offer are deemed unattractive.
