Traders say Algerian soymeal was bought in auction this week by Algerians.

European traders reported on Friday that Algerian state agency ONAB was believed to have purchased between 25,000 and 35,000 metric tonnes of soymeal at an international tender up to 70,000 metric tons on Thursday.

The shipment was to arrive by the 25th of February at the latest. The prices were not disclosed.

Initial reports indicated that no significant purchases had been made of the up to 240,00 tons of feed grain also sought by the tender. However, some deals couldn't be ruled out.

The corn sought was only from Argentina or Brazil in six consignments between 30,000 and 40,000 tons with delivery by February 20th at the latest.

The reports reflect the assessments of traders, and it is still possible to estimate prices and volume later. Michael Hogan is reporting.
