Tanger Med port in Morocco will handle 10.24 million containers by 2024
Tanger Med Port in Morocco said Wednesday that it retained its position as the Mediterranean’s leading port, handling 10,24 million containers. This is an increase of 18.8% compared to a year ago.
In June, the port reported that it expected to surpass its nominal processing capacity (TEUs) of 9 million feet equivalent units this year.
The port authority reported that due to reduced waiting times and better manoeuvring, Tanger Med handled 142 million tons of freight. This is a 16.2% increase.
The port authority reported that the number of vehicles exported via the port increased by 4%, to 600,872. Most were produced in the country at the Renault and Stellantis factories. Ahmed Eljechtimi, Elaine Hardcastle (Reporting)
