Taiwan's MFIG offers to purchase up to 65,000 metric tonnes corn

Posted to Maritime Reporter on June 11, 2024

European traders reported on Tuesday that Taiwan's MFIG buying group had issued an international tender for up to 65,000 metric tonnes of animal feed corn, which could be sourced in the United States, Brazil Argentina or South Africa.

They said that the deadline for submitting price offers to the tender is on Thursday, June 13.

MFIG is seeking price offers for a consignment between 40,000 and 65,000 tons of yellow corn at a premium to the Chicago December 2024 Corn Contract Cost (c&f included).

Traders said that if corn comes from the U.S. Gulf or Brazil, it should be shipped between August 5 and 24.

Shipping is required between August 20 and September 8 if the product comes from South Africa or the Pacific Northwest Coast of the United States.

Traders said that due to concerns over possible low quality, Argentine Corn will only be accepted if the price is at the lowest offered, and at least four cents per bushel lower than the next cheapest offer of other origins.
