Taiwan purchases 104,150 t of wheat from the U.S.
In a Friday tender, the Taiwan Flour Millers' Association bought an estimated 104.150 metric tonnes of milling grain to be sourced in the United States, European traders reported.
Two consignments of various types of wheat were purchased for shipment to the U.S. Pacific Northwest Coast.
It was estimated that the first shipment of 54,225 tonnes would be shipped between August 25 and September 8, and included 34,750 tonnes of U.S. Dark Northern Spring Wheat with a minimum 14.5% content of protein. The price was estimated at $277.72 per ton, free on board and $316.60 for cost and freight including ocean shipping to Taiwan.
The contract also included 13,225 tonnes of hard red winter grain with a minimum 12.5% content of protein. This was purchased at $268.10 per ton FOB and $306.99 a ton C&F, as well as 6,250 tons soft white wheat with a minimum 8.5% but maximum 10% of protein. These were bought at $253.10 a tonne fob, and $281.98 for a tonne c&f.
The traders reported that Columbia Grain International, the trading house which sold the dark northern spring wheat and Bunge, the firm selling the hard red and white, sold the first consignment.
The second shipment was 49,925 tonnes for the Sept. 12-26 shipping involved 31,425 tones of U.S. Dark Northern Spring Wheat with minimum 14.5% Protein Content at an estimated $323.17 per ton c&f and $283.29 per ton FOB.
The total also included 11,850 tonnes of hard red wheat with a minimum 12.5% content of protein bought at $261.07 per ton FOB and $300.95 per ton C&F, and 6,650 tons soft white wheat with a minimum 8.5% but maximum 10% of protein bought at $258.13 a ton Fob and $288.01 per ton C&F.
CHS sold dark northern spring wheat and Columbia Grain sold hard red and white wheat.
