Two industry sources said on Wednesday that Rosneft had resumed the loading of liquefied petrol gas (LPG), following a disruption caused by an fire last month. Data from commodity exchanges also showed this.

Sources said that the shipments were resumed this week after being halted since July. Rosneft didn't immediately respond to a comment request.

In July, an explosion and fire occurred at Rospan's processing facility for gas near Novy Urengoy city in the Yamal-Nenets Region. Rospan is one of the largest suppliers of LPG to Russian and international markets.

According to the St. Petersburg International Mercantile Exchange, LPG deliveries at the Korotchaevo station, where Rospan supplies fuel, ceased on July 26. They resumed on August 16.

Rospan started LPG production in 2021. The total LPG production capacity of Rospan is approximately 1.3 million tons per annum.

Rospan is a major supplier of LPG to Russia. It accounted for 11% of rail shipments to the Russian market in the first half 2024.

Sources claim that rail shipments from Rospan of LPG in 2023 will be about 888,000 tonnes, up from 386,000 tons in the year 2022. This included approximately 773,000 tonnes for the domestic market, and around 115,000 ton of exports. These figures were up from 301,000 and 85,000 respectively in 2022.
