Posted to Maritime Reporter on July 24, 2024

The MPA announced on Wednesday that Hafnia Oil Tanker owner Hafnia is in discussions with Singapore's Maritime and Port Authority about transferring damaged naphtha cargo to a secure location.

On July 19, the tankers Hafnia Nile, flying the Singapore flag, and Ceres I, flying the Sao Tome & Principe flag caught fire after colliding.

Hafnia also informed the MPA that on 23 July, light oil sheens were visible near Hafnia Nile.

MPA said that the Hafnia Nile was currently located about 100 km from Singapore.

Hafnia's towage plan includes repairs, containment, and cleanup.

The MPA continues to investigate the collision between Hafnia Nil and Ceres I.
