Saipem CEO: Saipem is working on French offshore wind project
Alessandro Puliti, CEO of the Italian energy group Saipem, said that work has begun on the Courseulles-sur-Mer off-shore wind project in Normandy. The wind farm is expected to be completed by 2025.
Financial analysts are closely monitoring Courseulles-sur-Mer for any problems in the completion of the project.
Saipem won the contract for 2021 from Eoliennes Offshore du Calvados SAS, which is part of a consortium headed by France's EDF Renewables. Saipem should receive a contract worth 537.4 millions euros.
Puliti told journalists at the Global Energy Transition Conference in Milan that "we are now drilling to lay the foundations of the monopiles."
The project involves the design, construction, and installation of 64 foundations that will support an equivalent number turbines.
Puliti stated that Saipem’s offshore expertise for fossil fuel projects could easily be extended to wind offshore sectors.
Saipem CEO says that the Italian group has already completed eight offshore wind projects and asked for a government incentive to increase for such projects in order to avoid inflationary costs.
