Rumo, a Brazilian company, says that a conveyor belt at a grain transshipment facility caught fire
Rumo, a Brazilian logistics company, said that a conveyor belt in a major grain transshipment facility in Mato Grosso caught fire at the early hours of Thursday morning.
The fire happened at a busy season when Brazil harvests a large soybean crop and starts shipping it to China.
Rumo claimed that the fire had been put out and normal operations have resumed, but did not provide any details.
Eduardo Vanin is a soybean analyst at Agrinvest. He said in a post on social media that the Rumo facility was the most important rail connection between the farmland and the Santos Port.
According to an analyst, the transshipment facility in Rondonopolis handles 1,500/2,000 trucks a day or 60,000-80,000 tons of cargo per day. Ana Mano, Andrea Ricci and Ana Mano contributed to the report.
