Relatives and witnesses report that three Gazans were found dead following their release from Israeli custody.
Three Palestinian men who were released from Israeli custody and found handcuffed have been discovered near Gaza's border. An uncle of one of the men and a witness both said that Israeli forces attacked them shortly after they were released.
Abdel Hadi Ghabayen is the uncle of Kamel Ghabayen. He said that he went out to search for his nephew at 5 am on Sunday morning after his arrest on Saturday by Israeli forces.
"I found him on the ground with the two other martyrs. Ghabayen reported that they were not wearing clothes and had their hands cuffed with plastic by the Israeli military.
He said that the bodies were discovered near the Israeli border fence in southern Gaza on Sunday, in the area of the Karam Abu Salem crossing (Kerem Shalom).
Could not confirm independently what happened to these three men or why they were arrested. Israel Defence Forces responded to comments by saying: "From an investigation conducted, the IDF has no knowledge of any incident where the suspects have been killed by IDF gunfire."
Abdel Hadi Ghabayen claimed that one of the men lost a limb and his body had been "smashed" by Israeli forces shortly after they were released.
Abdel Hadi Ghabayen claimed that the Israelis began shooting at him when he attempted to retrieve the dismembered leg of the man. "So I stopped," he said. Later, he took the bodies of all three men to Nasser Hospital located in Khan Younis, a southern Gaza City.
According to Mahmoud Abutaha, one of the men who was detained, several Palestinians were held on Saturday for questioning.
Abu Taha claimed that they were attacked shortly after their release.
"We reached Karkar Street" (in Gaza). We found a bomb after 10 minutes. It's a good thing I was in the front. The bomb struck 6 or 7 detainees who were with us. "Thank God I'm alive," said the man.
According to Israeli figures, the war began on October 7 when Hamas-led fighters who controlled Gaza attacked southern Israel and killed 1,200 people, while taking 250 hostages. Gaza health officials report that more than 38,000 Palestinians were killed by the Israeli military offensive. Hatem Khaled, Michael Georgy and William Maclean Miral Fakhmy edited the article.
