Prysmian, Italy's Prysmian and RTE in France sign a 700-million euro deal to connect offshore wind farm

Posted to Maritime Reporter on December 17, 2024

Prysmian, an Italian company, signed a framework deal on Tuesday with French electricity grid operator Reseau de Transport d'Electricite to connect two offshore turbine farms to the French transmission network. The deal could be worth up to 700 million euros.

Prysmian stated that the contracts will be finalised by 2026 or 2027, and RTE also has a cancellation option for this project.

Prysmian's project envisages that it will connect two wind farms, Fos and Narbonnaise, located off the coasts of France, south-west and southeast, respectively, to the French mainland power grid.

The project, which includes the engineering, procurement and construction of submarine power cables, as well as some landfall connections, is expected to be completed in 2031 or 32.
