Posted to Maritime Reporter on July 23, 2024

In the second quarter 2024, the Port of Corpus Christi in Texas moved 50.1 millions tons of goods along the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period of last year.

Corpus Christi has oil refineries, shipping ports and is a major crude oil exporting location.

The Port of Los Angeles said that crude oil tonnage grew 4.8% between Q2 2023 and Q2 2024. Break bulk and agricultural cargoes increased by 52% and 39.8% respectively during this period.

The Port of Corpus Christi handled 99.5 million tonnes in the first half of the year 2024. This is a small increase from the same period of 2023.

The Port of Corpus Christi had been closed earlier in the month due to the Tropical Storm Beryl, which was expected to bring gale-force winds in just 12 hours.
