Botswana won its first Olympic gold on Thursday, when the country's first African athlete, Kenny Bednarek, beat Noah Lyles and the Americans Kenny Bednarek.
REFUGEE TEAM MEDICAL
Cindy Ngamba, the first refugee representative to win an Olympic medal, made it to the semi-finals in boxing at the Paris Games. She is guaranteed at least a Bronze but she wants more.
US SNEAK PAST SERBIA

The dream was kept alive by a thrilling fourth quarter rally that tamed feisty Serbia, 95-91, on Thursday. They now move onto the gold medal men's basketball final in Paris against France.
The United States' chances of winning a fifth gold medal in a row were rapidly fading. They trailed by double-digits throughout the entire game, and they fell behind 76 to 63 at the start of the fourth quarter. LeBron James, Stephen Curry and the rest of the NBA team took over to bring a packed Bercy Arena into a frenzy.
CHINA'S FIRST WOMEN BOXING WINNER
Chang Yuan becomes the first woman
Hatice Akbas, a Turkish boxer, was defeated by China's Hatice Wang in the final of the women's bantamweight at the Olympics.
Pang Chol Mi of North Korea, and Im Ae Ji from South Korea both took home bronze medals after their semi-final losses.
CLIMBING FAST
Veddriq Lenardo of Indonesia won the gold medal for men's speed-climbing, a first Olympic title in history for his nation. American Sam Watson took home a bronze medal despite setting a new world record during his last race.
TABLE TENNIS SUSPENSE
China's table-tennis team beat France in the semi-finals with a score of 3-0. However, the close matches were what captivated the French and Chinese crowds.
The Chinese are now aiming to win the gold medals for men's and woman's teams on Friday and on Saturday, in order to sweep the five available at the Games.
FIRST KITEBOARD GOLD
Ellie Aldridge of Britain won the first Olympic kiteboarding Gold on Thursday. Lauriane Nolot from France took the silver, and Annelous Lammerts from the Netherlands was awarded the bronze.
KAYAK CHAMPION
Lisa Carrington of New Zealand led her women’s four-person kayak crew to the gold, bringing her Olympic total to six golds. She also added a bronze medal to her collection.
In the 500 metre final, the four-man German kayak team beat Australia by just four hundredths of a sec. Spain took the bronze.
SAILING GOLD
Ruggero Tita of Italy and Caterina Banti, the reigning Olympic champions, won gold at the mixed multihull race after a confident final race that confirmed their overall victory.
After battling their way to the front of the fleet, Austrians Lara Vadlau (left) and Lukas Maher (right) won the gold medal in the mixed dinghy.
